The Cornell Community Centre and Branch Library in the City of Markham provides a large, multi-purpose recreational space for the surrounding community. Crossey Engineering provided complete electrical and lighting design services for the advanced facility.
Directly attached to the Markham Stouffville Hospital, the Centre was designed by Shore Tilbe Irwin & Partners (currently Perkins&Will Canada) to promote health and wellness through physical activity and group interaction.
This LEED Silver Certified community centre features a variety of amenities such as a health and fitness centre, an indoor play area, aquatic facilities, and a gymnasium.
Including a triple gymnasium, the building also features an aquatic centre with therapy tanks and a water slide, a complete library featuring a 2,000 sq. ft. medical library for hospital use, an indoor track, rehearsal hall, indoor children’s playground, and youth centre.
The approximate construction cost was $75 million.
