This $497 million facility consolidates the Centre of Forensic Sciences, Office of the Chief Coroner, and the Ontario Forensic Pathology Unit into one, cohesive location. Crossey Engineering Ltd. provided the complete mechanical design and commissioning services, through our subsidiary group, VSC.
Mechanically, systems were created to serve the Coroner’s Courts and forensics laboratories, including rooftop exhausts, large rooftop generators, and multiple air handling units. Noise emissions were a large consideration and had to be minimal to meet building requirements.
Other special features of the FSCC include vehicle examination bays, ballistics facilities, and Canada’s first Containment Level 3 autopsy suite.
Facility designs were created to achieve LEED Gold standards.
