Crossey Engineering provided the mechanical, electrical, as well as lighting design by Consullux and commissioning services by VSC, to the world-renowned National Ballet School in downtown Toronto.
A historic site with buildings dating back to 1856, the project consisted of renovations to existing buildings and constructing a new, six-storey studio.
Established in 1959, the National Ballet School is one of the world’s foremost training centres for young dancers and teachers. It is the only ballet academy in North America to provide dance training, academic schooling, and residential services on one campus.
The renovations and new studio are home to thirteen dance studios, the Academic School, dressing rooms, a kitchen, cafeteria, and administration spaces. Renovations to the existing “CBC” facilities and the Betty Oliphant performance space also provided updates to the performing centres and public spaces. The overall construction budget was approximately $90 million.
