Targeting LEED Silver qualification, the New Oakville Hospital is a 1.5 million sq. ft. facility that holds approximately 457 beds. Crossey Engineering along with their sub-consultant H.H. Angus, provided the complete mechanical design for the new facility, created in joint venture by Parkin Architects Limited and Adamson Associates Architects for the design-build team led by EllisDon.
Designated for a 2014/2015 opening, the hospital will include more privacy for patients with eighty percent of rooms designed to be singles, integrated bedside terminals, a cancer clinic, an increased infection prevention and control program, and enhanced clinical support.
The mechanical systems have been designed to remain sustainable and efficient while delivering the high services demands of the building and equipment including superior ventiliation, for all patients and staff members.
