Stanton Territorial Hospital

Yellowknife, Northwest Territories

Project Description

Crossey Engineering Ltd. was part of the Boreal Health Partnership for the Mechanical, Electrical, Security, Connectivity design and VSC Group Commissioning for the Stanton Territorial Hospital Project.

The new hospital includes a floor area of over 280,000 sq. ft. and offers outpatient and inpatient services including emergency, medical imaging, dialysis, obstetrics, pediatric, cardio and mental health departments as well as day procedure and surgery suites.

The hospital is the largest facility in the Northwest Territories and provides acute, secondary, tertiary and other specialized healthcare services to residents of the Northwest Territories and the Kitikmeot Region of Nunavut.

The design team determined that a solution could be provided that developed a completely new facility on site while meeting the budget requirements. As a value add, the project would have less impact on ongoing operations, reduce risk, provide better infection prevention and control, and be delivered ahead of the proposed schedule.

Designed in Revit, a detailed design and coordination process was executed by an integrated team involving the mechanical engineer, electrical engineer, architect, general contractor and trades to develop a design that was cost-effective, efficient and constructible.
