This was a renovation and addition to the existing de Havilland hanger at Downsview Park into a new Aerospace Department facility for Centennial College. This new development represents a major turning point for Centennial College, furthering our position as a leader in avionics, aircraft maintenance, and aerospace manufacturing education.
The repurposing of this structure involved the reuse of the majority of the existing floorplate, with some selective demolition to allow for new construction, sized to accommodate the dimensional requirements for modern aircraft.
This facility includes classroom/lab spaces (50,000 sq. ft.) for aviation engineering, hangar space (40,000 sq. ft.), administration space and auxiliary service, student commons/food services/library resources; etc. Commissioning was provided by the VSC group.
This project was designed to meet LEED Gold Standards.
