Opened officially in 2011, Crossey Engineering provided mechanical, electrical, and telecom consulting services to the Brock University’s Cairns Family Health and Bioscience Complex, designed by architects Alliance. It has a Biosafety Level 3 lab, an NMR lab, greenhouses and a vivarium.
The 145,496 sq. ft. facility combines cutting-edge medical research, technology, and application. An apex centre for the Niagara region’s medical community and students, it provides space for programs in chemistry, biomedical research, molecular biology, medical studies, and biocontainment. There is a focus placed on research and entrepreneurship, and bringing new medical ideas and technologies into the Canadian market.
The complex also contains an industry-led incubator and accelerator with wet and dry laboratories to help in attracting health start-up enterprises that student and faculty-run ventures can use to apply their research.
